\nI wanted to reiterate the dependability of this engine before we get into the frequent issues with the 3rz engine. Some of these issues are more like maintenance things that eventually need to be replaced; not all of these issues are particularly widespread.<\/p>\n
Timing Chain Failure in the 3rz engine
\nInstead of using a timing belt, the 3RZ engine uses a timing chain. A chain connecting a set of gears allows timing chains to open and close the exhaust valves. Through a set of gears located on the front of the engine block, the timing chain is connected to the cam and crank. The chain is shielded and lubricated by oil thanks to a timing cover.<\/p>\n

A 2.7 L (2,693 cc) version is the 3RZ-FE. A 95 mm x 95 mm (3.74 in x 3.74 in) bore and stroke are used. 9.5:1 compression ratio. 150 horsepower (112 kW; 152 PS) of power and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque are produced at 4800 and 4000 rpm, respectively.
